My surfing addiction was triggered when I moved to Devon aged 10. In 2006 I travelled around the world with my board, spending three and a half months working up the South African coast, surfing everywhere between Cape Town to Durban. After South Africa I headed to New Zealand, Fiji and Bali for more of the same.
On my return to the UK I decided that I wanted to help others discover a sport which had given me so much. I qualified as a Beach lifeguard and Surf Instructor straight away and started to teach at the Wavehunters Surf School (formerly the Animal Surf Academy) on Polzeath beach. This incredible opportunity led to four summers of living and working on the beach.
I’ve spent my last few winters at university in Edinburgh, making the most of the coast with some surfing in the North Sea. Between essays and exams I’ve done trips to France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
For me Magnetic Junction provides a place to showcase the amazing surfing on offer in Europe and a chance to guide the consumer through the jungle of hardware brands and designs through product testing and in-depth reviews.
